Coast Road Furniture, Connah's Quay

My biggest commission yet!

Andy the MD at Coast Road Furniture needed an insurance approved CCTV system. As a HikVision installer I conducted a survey and we agreed upon the pro-series camera system, with local and remote access. Not the cheapest option, but a good choice. It offers incredible night vision and smart motion detection that can differentiate between humans, cars and other movement.

Coast Road is a challenging building with four floors, multiple materials and obstacles to negotiate, but I think the result is pretty good.

For security reasons I've not included all of the camera locations and pictures are posted with permission.

For this commission I was asked to create a signature fireplace to replace and create a new centrepiece  for the lounge are, but retain a traditional feel. The client was given Photoshop images of suggested designs, to help them decide and budget options were discussed.

The result was to make a traditional surround from air dried and aged Oak. The main beam used for the mantle was carefully shaped by hand and included a curved underside to subtly reflect some of the other features in the room. The uprights were joined using a through dovetail joint (so no glue was needed) and fitted on site. To create the warmth of a fire, the fireplace was also fitted with smart lights. While the client is new to smart lights full training was given.

I particularly like the blending of traditional materials and construction, that will age with the pub and the modern conveniences afforded by modern technology.
